Imagination Center

Imagination Center

The proposed “Imagination Center at Reindahl Park” will not be an ordinary library. It will be a transformational space designed and directed by the northeast Madison community.

The Imagination Center at Reindahl Park will be a place for the community to gather and learn. It will be a safe place for social interaction, civic engagement, and cultural expression.

The center will focus on holistic health and expanding economic opportunities for library visitors.

Healthy Neighborhoods

Healthy Neighborhoods

Promoting healthy strong neighborhoods by encouraging neighborhood relationships and engagement. Strong neighborhoods are built by getting to know your neighbors and caring for each other. The better we know our neighbors, the more we can look out for each other and help each other.

Volunteering to help each other is a core value that we all should embrace. Being a generous community isn’t just about giving money, it includes giving of our time and sharing our life experiences. We can all learn something from each other. Your next best friend might be just around the block.

People Focused Crime Prevention

People Focused Crime Prevention

Reducing crime requires a long term, multi-focused approach that must center on understanding what factors lead to individuals to commit crimes. Punitive incarceration, although necessary at times, should be the last option in our overall crime prevention strategy.

Crime prevention is a collaborative effort between residents, city and business leaders, mental health organizations and police departments who are all focused on eliminating poverty, ensuring struggling individuals and families have the support needed.

Helping Small Businesses

Helping Small Businesses

Small businesses are an important part of what makes Madison thrive. We need to ensure that small businesses have the help and support needed to be successful. By making it easier for small businesses to do business with the city, we ensure Madison will continue to have a vibrant and growing small business culture.

East Towne Revitalization

East Towne Revitalization

The East Towne area is already a hub of commercial activity and there were several meetings to discuss the future revitilization which includes mixed use of both commercial and residential. We need to ensure that the revitalization plans foster an environment of growth and development that fits with the needs of our district.

Homelessness

Homelessness

As city leaders, we need to be helping those who are experiencing homelessness. We need to ensure that we are not only providing shelters, but also access to the services they need. This means partnering with organizations to assist with mental health needs, job placement assistance and mentorship which will lead to more stable, long-term housing.

Why am I running for Alder?

A Big Heart for People

My wife and I have always had a heart for people. From the day we moved into the Ridgewood neighborhood in 2005, we have literally opened our doors to people who needed a place to stay. Some needed help getting on their feet, some just needed a family to care about them, and some were in a transitionional time in their life.

We’ve journeyed with some of Madison’s homeless and also invited them into our home for thanksgiving dinners. Helping people is not always convenient, but caring for and accepting someone where they are at is what really matters.

My Mission

Running for District 17 alder is just the next opportunity for me to serve my community as I have been. Everything I do always centers on how it will affect people. My committment is to find the “ground truth”, in other words what is the daily life reality of my neighbors in district 17. I have been reaching out to our neighborhood heroes, people who selflessly give to our community every day, to find out what is working and what still needs to be done. This is where the strength of our community comes from.
